SEARCH HIDDEN FILES IN WINDOWS XP

The Search companion in Windows XP provides an advanced method of searching for hidden and system files which is a lot different than in earlier versions of Windows.

I will explain you how to search for system or hidden files in Windows XP.

Click Start >> Search >> All files and folders >> More advanced options.

Click to select the Search system folders and Search hidden files and folders check boxes. Now start the search.

Note: For this tip to work you need to configure your windows not to hide protected operating system files to find files with both the hidden and system attributes. Search Companion shares the Hide protected operating system files with the Folder Options dialog box Windows Explorer.
